You can use a lot of the pads and softer leads to make ambient sounding patches, the ones coming from the factory are not necessarily labeled as ambient.

You're going to love, it is one of the best sounding synths I own. Very musical.

No, but they're mostly stock sounds in the MS2000B with added Strymon delay and reverb.

Good ear, yes I recorded a second track with the left hand playing 2 bars of 2 different bass lines, single notes no chords, but the reverb makes it sound fuller!

thanks, yeah it's been a while, this is just a quick test with the small Fender amp, you're hearing max reverb, which doesn't get too drippy. I'll post more soon with more gear.

It's similar to most older synths I've used, so I kinda knew how it worked right away. The step sequencer was a lot more intuitive though.

Just have fun with it, step by step, it is complex but you'll get the hang of it.

This synth doesn't necessarily excel at anything, but I still love the amount of sounds it has, and you can get decent patches designed on it if you get creative.

Yeah layered fx would be great, but I assume would add complexity and cost to this budget synth.

@@jedisid No, just give a send per layer, instead of a global reverb FX dry/wet mix. It would cost nothing. There is still only one reverb to process for all. But you could have an individual layer/part more upfront or more distant in the mix. The way Roland is doing it on the JD-Xi is great.

​@@apreviousseagle836 It does not provide sound manipulation, meaning sonic potential on level of subtractive, wavetable, FM/PD synthesis, it's sample based vector synthesis, so it's more like advanced sampler. And it is 4-part multitimbral, rare thing among today's hardware synthesizers to be multitimbral, even VSTs. Modwave I think have same sound library as Wavestate and more, but not sequencing capabilites as Wavestate.

I think if I had the option now I would go for the Prophet Rev 2. The only limitation of this synth is the 4 voice polyphony and the lack of fx.

but its a phenomenal sounding synth.

​@@jedisid I thought the same, but I ended up keeping my x4 after I got a rev2, there's just something about it's small form factor that's so inviting, my only complaint after getting the rev2 is the keybed on the x4 feels suuuper cheap, but that's fine - it's mainly my weekend away/bring to friends house synth these days Nice textures btw, algo started autoplaying this vid for me!

Yes it does, you can switch between sample based playing and sequences. The samples are good, but not the best, as it's not the focus of this instrument. (Pianos, Organs, etc...)

yes both the arpeggiator and sequencer can be removed easily.

Glad I could showoff it's power, yeah it's a fantastic synth, missing some after touch and velocity keybed functionalities, but otherwise great.
